How Does Video Help SEO? |
How to Use Video as Part of Your SEO Strategy
As an online business, it’s important to know and maximize your SEO strategy. If you’re not sure what Search Engine Optimization is then this guide from Google is very useful.
You’re probably reading this as you already have a good idea, it’s all about ranking as highly as possible in search results.
With SEO, there is an understandable focus on written content but there are other ways to master your SEO strategy. Here we take a look at how you can use video as part of that strategy to ultimately gain more traffic.
High-Quality Content Drives Traffic
SEO is no longer about stuffing as many keywords as you can into your text as user experience has become increasingly important.
The longer that your visitors are able to stay on your webpage, the better.
Inserting a video onto your webpage is a great way to keep your visitors engaged.
Google looks for two key factors which are the bounce rate and dwell time.
Bounce rate is determined as to how quickly someone will go from your page and back to your search results. You want this to be as low as possible and videos help with that.
Videos will also greatly improve their dwell time. They will want to watch the video, especially if it is high-quality and informative.
Having a low bounce rate and high dwell time will mean more chances for the page ranking highly with Google.
Build Links and Shares
One of the most important ways to build a great SEO rating on Google is through links. If high-authority websites link to your webpage then it’s a sign to the search engine that your page is a trusted source of information.
If you have a high-quality video then other websites are going to link to it. This will not only increase the number of links to your website but only generate huge amounts of traffic.
This is why it’s a good idea to put time and effort into your videos. Using a free resource such as Animoto for your visitors is an easy way to get high-quality content.
Increase Brand Awareness
There are plenty of indirect ways that you can increase your SEO and one of them is through increasing brand awareness. If you become a source of trusted videos then people are likely to go back to your website time and again.
Along with the video, there are many other ways to increase brand awareness such as creating a great new logo, which you can do here. It’s all about being an authority in whatever subject you specialize in.
This all links back into the user experience. You don’t just want to have eyes on your page, you want them to come away from that page feeling better for it.
Having a strong brand means your visitors will trust you and will stay on your page.
Increasing Conversions
Having high-quality video as part of your SEO strategy is going to increase the amount of conversations around your website.
One great example of that is your content being shared across social media. Generating a buzz is going to increase the popularity of your website.
While gaining traffic is important, your end goal is most likely going to be monetizing that traffic in some way. This could be by selling products, advertising, or through commission.
Video is a great way of selling your products, giving key information, or becoming someone they can trust.
All of this can lead to a higher conversion rate of your website which is why you wanted to optimize it for search engines in the first place.

For years now I use Blogger for my own websites, and I can confirm that Blogger is a great platform when it comes to building websites and blogs that are managed from one person or small-sized teams.

Blogger vs Wordpress |
Is Wordpress better than Blogger?
For example, if you are creating a company website and/or blog then I would recommend you use Wordpress because it has a lot more features than Blogger.
Although even Blogger can be customized and you can create company websites with it.
If you are creating a personal blog, or better saying your aim to create a small blog than Blogger can be good.
Wordpress can be easier and better customized, you have more premium templates.
I have used and use also Wordpress for a lot of websites, and Wordpress is an amazing CMS.
Wordpress is better for a lot of people because it is easier to use with the help of a lot of different plugins and there are a lot of themes available.
Is Blogger better than WordPress?
If you want to use Blogger to create good websites and optimized for search engines, you need to know basic HTML and CSS and create custom templates or you can buy premium Blogger templates for a cheap price.
Is Blogger completely free?
Is Blogger good for SEO?
When it comes to SEO for Blogger the only drawback I can see for On-Site SEO right now is that you cannot format URLs and create them without year and month, like you can format them in Wordpress.
Anyway, Blogger as a blogging platform from Google is safer when it comes to security, because it is hosted on Google servers, and also their servers rarely go down.

How to choose which keywords to target?
The most important thing in the keyword research process is to know how to choose the right keywords, what are the main criteria that we should use to select the keywords that we should target.
On the web, there are a lot of articles available where you can learn how to do keyword research, but sadly a lot of them are not well explained or they do are not on point and updated about keyword research.
Types of Keyword Research
There are multiple types of keyword research, and that is by taking into consideration the aim of the process is why we are doing keyword research and what is the main purpose why we are doing it.
We should take into consideration a lot of things, like what is your target audience, for whom you are writing your blog post, who are your potential customers or buyer personas, etc…
1. Keyword Research for SEM Campaign
Search Engine Marketing, shortly known as SEM, is a paid method of internet marketing to advertise on the different websites of the internet, with the main purpose of increasing traffic and conversions on the internet.

The process helps to identify keywords that we need to target on our pages and optimize around them so that we rank high on SERP (search engine result pages).
3. Keyword Research To Help Sell on Big E-commerce Online Websites
A lot of business owners, producers, and sellers, use big e-commerce websites to sell their products, services online.
These online e-commerce websites are huge and have a lot of competition and to be able to be seen on these sites it is needed optimization of the product listings to be done, and in this case, the most important factor is to know which keywords to target in the listings.

In these last years, social media have become very important for website owners, bloggers, etc, to increase traffic, conversions, sales, etc…
There are different types of research for the optimization of social media, and the most popular ones are for Youtube and Pinterest.
Keyword Metrics To Be Considered for Keyword Research
When doing keyword research, there are a lot of metrics available in the keyword tools, and we need to know which ones to use for the identification of the best possible keywords.
1. Search Volume (Usually Monthly)
Search Volume is the most important factor in the process because we need to know how much are people searching on the internet for the keywords we are choosing to focus on.
2. Cost Per Click (CPC)
CPC is important for the paid campaign of search engine marketing, but not only, because it is important also for SEO, because the higher the cost per click, it means that keyword has higher buyer intent and higher conversion.
3. Paid Difficulty
Paid Difficulty is a metric important in the paid search campaigns and helps to know what kind of keywords to target.
4. SEO Difficulty
SEO Difficulty is one of the most important metrics in the process that needs to be identified.
It serves us to know the difficulty of a keyword to be ranked in search engine result pages.
Sadly, not all the SEO tools offer to reveal this metric, and even those that offer this, some of them are not accurate.
How To Do Keyword Research For SEO?
My tips for effective keyword research are:
Step 1. Choose the right seed keywords
When choosing the seed keyword to try to think for two seed keywords that are somehow related, and do the search in Google for these keywords, and from the Google search page copy the keyword suggestions that come up in SERP after the search is made.
After that also copy the link of the first or second search result in SERP, paste them all into a spreadsheet.
Do that also for the second seed keyword.
Step 2. Open your preferred keyword research tool
Go to your preferred keyword research tool and paste them all in the search field.
Start the keyword research campaign, and download the results in the spreadsheet.
Step 3. Remove all the duplicate results
After that remove all the duplicates from the spreadsheet, filter the results and remove all the keywords with less than three words, and remove also all the keywords with less than 100 search volume.
If your tool offers SEO difficulty metrics then remove also all the keywords with the hard and medium SEO difficulty.
Step 4. Check keywords for their relevancy
Still, there should remain a huge number of keywords in the spreadsheet, but here you must start checking the keywords manually for their relevancy and remove all the keywords that are not relevant to the seed keywords that you have started the process in the beginning.
If the keyword research is done in this way, you will find keywords that are relevant, easy to rank, and have decent search volume.
I recommend you to check out our page about SEO Content Strategy also.
Step 5. Save the spreadsheet document
After all the process is done, don’t forget to save the spreadsheet document, if it doesn’t get saved automatically!
What are long-tail keywords?
A long-tail keyword is a longer, more specific keyword phrase that marketers use to try and attract targeted traffic to a web page.
To assist you in finding out how people search and what words they use, there are a number of sources for free tools on the web that you can use although the Google free tool would probably be the most up to date.

Blogger Labels SEO and Blogspot Archive Pages Guide
How to Remove Blogger Archive Page URL from Google Search?
Blogger platform is simply awesome, but it needs some tweakings to make it SEO friendly.
If you don’t know how to do these little changes it can cause problems in search engines and you will lose rankings on SERPs and traffic.
![]() |
Remove Blogger Label and Archive Page Snippets from SERPs |
Fix Duplicate Content Issue for SEO on Blogger Blogs
One of these problems can be duplicate content caused by Blogger archive and label pages being indexed.
If you have this problem yourself, don’t worry, you are in the right place!
Duplicate content can be very problematic when it comes to SEO, and in Blogger blogs, this also needs to be addressed properly.
Most of the blogger users block the labels to be indexed in the robots.txt file, and that’s ok, not ideal, but ok!
But what about the archive pages?!
If you use the robots.txt file to block those archive page URLs, it will also block all of your post URLs because the blogger post URL contains the archive format URLs.
There are two ways to remove the archive pages from SERPs (search engine result pages), and I am going to explain both of them.
SEO for Blogspot Archive Pages
1. Remove archive pages from SERPs by using Custom Robots Header Tags
Warning: this method sometimes doesn’t work, I have tested it myself, Custom Robots Header Tags sometimes do not work at all, that’s why I prefer to use the second method on my blogs.
Open your blogger account, open the blog account that you want to remove the blogger archive pages and go to Settings and then click on Search Preferences.
Search preferences go to Custom Robots Header Tags and click Edit.
The three sections you’ll see below correspond to:
- Your blog’s home page
- Your archive and search pages
- Your posts and pages
Check the boxes to set the flags according to your preferences, then view the sections of your blog that you customized (homepage, archive, and search pages, pages, and posts).
I recommend checking these boxes:
- Homepage check All and noodp
- Archive and Search pages check noindex and noodp
- Posts and Pages check All and noodp.
And you are all set!
Blogger Labels SEO
2. Remove Label and Archive Pages from SERPs with a Line of Code
The method described above with the custom robots header tags is way easier to be implemented, but sometimes it doesn’t work, and that’s why I myself use both of these methods.
To remove the label and archive pages just follow the instructions I described here.
Open the HTML template editor on the blogger blog that I want to remove these pages.
Copy this piece of code belove.
<b:if cond='data:blog.pageType == "index"'>
<b:if cond='data:blog.searchLabel'>
<meta content='noindex' name='robots'/>
</b:if>
</b:if>
<b:if cond='data:blog.pageType == "archive"'>
<meta content='noindex' name='robots'/>
</b:if>
<b:if cond='data:blog.isMobile'>
<meta content='noindex' name='robots'/>
</b:if>
Now paste it in the header section just belove this code,
"<b:include data='blog' name='all-head-content'/>"
.
Now you are all set!
Now regardless of which one of the methods you used (you can use both methods, it doesn’t matter), you need to do one more thing to complete the process and fix the duplicate content issue!
You need to open up this page on your browser ( I suppose you already have a Google Search Console account for your blog), https://www.google.com/webmasters/tools/removals
Now on your browser write your blog subdomain with the word site: before, like this, site:https://yourblog.blogspot.com, or if you have a custom domain write it like this, site:yourblog.com
This will open up a Google Search Result Page with all the pages of your blog that are indexed on the search engine (I suppose you use Google).
Now find the pages that you do not want to appear on Search Result Pages (pages that you do not want them indexed) like the label and archive pages because they do create duplicate content issues and do harm to your blogger blog SEO.
Now that you have found these pages right-click on them and copy their URLs and then paste them on the form of the page that you have opened before (https://www.google.com/webmasters/tools/removals).
And remove them one by one!
Wait for a day or two these unwanted pages will disappear from SERPs.
That’s it for this tutorial, I hope you find it helpful, and if you do not hesitate to share with your friends on social media, and if you need any more help you can comment belove.
